Check-in corner

Pink Lotus Corner, the lotus from our logo steps into the courtyard

A pink lotus pot in the middle of the courtyard, still water reflecting blooms and leaves. Nhà An took its inspiration from the tea house's own logo, to give you a gentle photo corner in the middle of a busy day.

The idea

The lotus in the Nhà An logo

The Nhà An logo is a roof sheltering a pink lotus, with a young shoot reaching up. Pink Lotus Corner brings that image into real life: a lotus pot in the courtyard, with the water reflecting the early sky and green leaves.

In Vietnamese culture, the lotus has long stood for purity, as in the well-known folk verse: close to the mud, yet never smelling of mud. Nhà An's logo, vegetarian meals and lotus tea all meet in that image.

Pink Lotus Corner is free for Nhà An guests. Nhà An is putting the finishing touches on its branches and opening soon; Nhà An Binh Thanh has a front courtyard planted with lotus, while photo corner layouts at each branch will be announced on opening day. How many blooms are open depends on the weather and the season.

  • Best time: early sunlight
  • Free for Nhà An guests
  • Great for portraits, couple photos and product shots

Four tips to capture the lotus reflection

Come in early sunlight

Lotus usually bloom in the morning and close as the sun climbs. Low, slanting light rims the petals with a glow, and the water is less glary than at midday.

Lower the phone toward the water

Hold your phone low, close to the water, to catch the lotus reflection. Wait for the surface to settle before you tap the shutter.

Choose light, soft outfits

A white, cream, blush pink or light blue áo dài suits the pink of the lotus. Very dark or bright red clothes can easily overpower the flower.

Try both close-ups and wide shots

One close-up of the petals, one of you and the flower in the same frame, one of a glass of tea beside the pot. Those three styles are enough for one morning.

How to shoot

A morning by the lotus pot

  1. Order a lotus tea or an oolong

Lotus tea has a gentle floral scent, while wood-fired roasted oolong is warm with roasted aroma; either one looks lovely in your hand against the green of the lotus leaves. The drink is your choice.

  2. Step into the courtyard while the sun is still soft

Stand where the light falls on your face, and avoid letting your shadow fall across the water.

  3. Keep your distance from the pot

Do not touch, pick or lean on the pot. Shoot from a little farther away and ask a friend to take the photo.

  4. Wait for the water to settle, then shoot

Ripples blur the reflection of the flower. A few seconds of patience gives you a clearer, deeper photo.

  5. Back to your table for tea

Return to your table to enjoy your tea and look through your photos. If you would like a print, stop by the Polaroid Wall for instant prints at the counter.

Keeping the lotus lovely

Be gentle with the lotus

Do

  • Shoot from a moderate distance
  • Take turns with other guests
  • Keep your drink away from the edge of the pot

Please avoid

  • Picking flowers, tearing leaves or snapping buds
  • Dropping foreign objects into the water
  • Stirring the water with your hand to make ripples

Quick questions about Pink Lotus Corner

Is there a fee for taking photos at Pink Lotus Corner?

No. This photo corner is free for Nhà An guests. Photographers, makeup and áo dài are separate services; see the Photography page.

When are the lotus in full bloom?

In northern Vietnam, lotus usually peak in early summer; in the south, some places have lotus blooming almost all year. How many blooms are open at each branch depends on the weather, so Nhà An will post updates on our website and Zalo.

What if the lotus are not in bloom that day?

Green lotus leaves, closed buds and reflections on the water still make very distinctive frames. You can also shoot with a glass of lotus tea.

Do I need to book ahead?

You are expected to be able to drop by and take photos while you are at the tea house, with no separate booking for the photo corner; Nhà An will confirm this when we open. If you want an áo dài shoot or are coming with a big group, it is best to book a Studio slot for more time and room.
